Located in the heart of Cospicua, JLZ+MBF Architects have transformed number 36 into a light-filled contemporary home. Originally found in a dilapidated state and used as three separate residences, JLZ+MBF Architects have rehabilitated and converted this property into a functional abode.
Typical of Maltese properties located in the three cities, the house is accessed through an external passage leading onto a central spacious courtyard with a lounge area and recreational pool. All internal spaces are filled with natural light through the large openings created overlooking the central courtyard. The grand rooms forming the kitchen and living spaces have been given a new lease of life with their impressive arches all being restored to their original state.
Elegantly concealed behind the kitchen, the introduction of a staircase creates access to the first-floor bedroom which again maximizes on the use of outdoor area through a large terrace overlooking the courtyard. The contemporary interiors have been carefully planned out to ensure minimal impingement on the original fabric which has been retained in exposed limestone.
